Chocolate Porridge

When I tell people that porridge is my go-to breakfast, those who aren't into healthy eating seem to be quite shocked. I guess that most of them imagine plain oats cooked with tasteless water, but that's not the case! There are so many tasty and creative ways to prepare your porridge in the morning. You can use a bunch of different spices, plant-milks and  sweeteners. It's possible to replace the oats with millet, buckwheat, quinoa or amaranth. The most fun part though is decorating your bowl with a bunch of different toppings like fresh or dried fruit, nut butters, apple sauce, yoghurt and nuts and seeds. There are so many possible variations that it never gets boring. Since I'm a big chocolate lover, this one is one of my favourites. It takes less than 10 minutes and keeps me full until lunch time, while satisfying my cravings. The best thing about it is that it is healthy too, so it's a win - win.

What you'll need:

-half a cup of oats
- one cup of your favourite plant-milk (I use oat milk) and half a cup of water
- a teaspoon of raw cacao powder
- some raisins and chia seeds
- a natural sweetener of your choic (maple syrup, date nectar or coconut sugar)
- raw cacao nibs or chopped dark vegan chocolate
- berries  for topping your porridge (bananas taste amazing with this too)

What you have to do:

1. Place your oats, raisins, chia seeds andthe liquids in a saucepann
2. Bring to boil and let it simmer for around 5 minutes, make sure that the porridge doesn't stick to the bottom of your saucepan
3. Mix in the cacao powder
4. Pour the porridge into a bowl and top with the fruit, the raw cacao nibs and the chosen sweetener

Enjoy!
