Our mindset shapes our lifes and influences everything we do. We see everything around us through a filter of beliefs, experiences and feelings. Everything we assume to know is actually just an interpretation and our own personal point of view. That's why it's so important to take a step back and take a look at our mindset and the way we might be keeping ourselfs from being happier.

 1. Realize that you are creating your life, not the other way around
You could change your life drastically every second. You could decide to buy a one-way plane ticket, dye your hair a crazy colour or become a buddhist and live in a temple. Serioulsy, you could if you wanted to.
Don't be  passive and a victim to your own life. Take action! You can be whoever you want and do whatever you want if you work really hard. Nowadays almost everything is possible, from changing your gender to moving to the other end of the world. Realizing that is in my opinion the first step to changing your fixed mindset. You only have one life to achieve everything you want, to be the best version of you possible, so start working on yourself and creating a better and more positive mindset now.

2. Figure out what your unconcious beliefs are
What are the stories you tell yourself? We all have some. You might believe that you are lazy, or not ... enough to do a certain thing. Maybe you are convinced that all the people that disagree with you are stupid. Personally, I used to believe that I was born a sad girl and that nobody could ever understand me. I did not even try certain things because deep down I didn't think I would succeed. I thought that I wasn't enough. Finding out what that inner voice is telling you isn't as easy as it sounds. Often, there are layers and layers of beliefs but once you have gotten to the chore of all your problems you are able to develop a new, growing mindset that can radically change the way you perceive the world and people around you.

3.  Start controlling your thoughts & Create your own, new reality
What you think about yourself, how you choose to interpret the words that other people say and the things that are happening to you is a choice. Seriously, it is. The power to control your thoughts lies within you. If I am asking you to imagine a flower you can make it happen. Whenever your old inner voice tells you stuff like "It's not worth it, this weather sucks, what I said was stupid." carefully listen to it.  After you've let all the negative stuff sink in for a little while, question it. Is is true? Is that what you want to think? Is this thought beneficial to you, your success and your well-being? If not - talk back. Tell your story to go fuck itself. Replace your unwanted thought with something that actually helps you move forward and get somewhere in life.
Don't worry if it feels weird at first. Of course you feel like you are lying to yourself. You have gotten so used to all the negativity that everything that doesn't resonate with your old beliefs feels untrue. Don't let that feeling stop you. Keep that positive self-talk going.

4. Action speaks louder than words
Thinking good thoughts is one thing, acting on them another. It takes courage to step out of your comfort zone, but if I did, you can do it too. It's the only way we can grow as human beings. So turn your thoughts into action and be the version of you you have always wanted to be.

Most of us want to change in some way. We want to be perfect, hope that one days all our flaws will be erased. Often we try so hard to be flawless that we don't even start the projects we dream of because we don't believe in ourselves or we are too afraid to open up in a new relationship and get close to someone. Some people don't share their ideas or opinions because they think they don't matter. A lot of us live afraid of the judment of others, ashamed of certain parts about ourselves. We might hate our body, the fact that we are messy or the way we talk. I honestly believe that each us struggles with some imperfections, but the way we choose to look at them can change our lives. Accepting yourself for who you are and developing a feeling of self-worth is cruical when it comes to leading a happy and more sucessful life. Obviously you won't change your whole perspective and mindset over-night but I hope that the tipps and tricks I have learned will help you to come one or two steps closer to being ok with who you are - inside and out.

1. Appreciate your uniqueness

Everybody who lives on this planet is special. There will never be anyone exactly like you. Nobody shares the exact dreams, visons or thoughts. The way you perceive the world and people around you is unique to you. Nobody has exactly the same experiences as you do. It's amazing if you think about it - you don't even have to do something great to be prove how unique you are, because we all are. Being yourself is a gift and you have things to share with the word. If you hide who you really are becase yu are afraid to show yourself to the world the only you that will ever exist gets lost.

2. Do good things

This might sound a bit off-topic, but trust me: Being compassionate and generous has the power to change how you look at yourself. If you feel like you have nothing to be proud of - start giving more gifts, working for charity or just being a kind person in general. You have the power to brighten up someones day with just some nice compliments and a smile. What's just a little money to you can buy a meal  if you decide to give it to people who don't have a home or live in countries where hunger is all around them. If helping others isn't a good reason to be proud of yourself then I don't know what is.

3. Stop comparing yourself to others

I know - it's easier said than done. As I said before you are special and unique. That alone makes you awesome. Furthermore two people can be equally as great but completely different. You have to be able to acknowledge the fact that somebody is doing great without doubting yourself. Both Picasso and Van Gogh have been great artist in their own way. Different people prefer differet things and that's ok. There is always someone better, prettier or stronger somewhere in the world, so don't ruin your day with thinking that you should be more like someone else. You have your own talents that some people would love to have. Just keep going, do your thing and enjoy your life.

4. Ignore what other people think & stop assuming that you know

If you find yourself worrying a lot about what your friends, co-workers or family think, you have to realize that all the assumptions you are constantly making are probably wrong. It's fiction, you actually don't know what's going on inside their heads. Maybe you are right and they hate you - or maybe they are unfriendly because they have had a really bad day. Not knowing something is extremly frustrating which is why we never stop guessing, but that is actually a very toxic habit. It is good to always question wether you actually know it. If the answer to that question is no stop thinking about it and concentrate on the things you actually know to be real.
Another reason for ignoring what other people think is that it's not the truth, it's only their opinion which probably differs to the one of the person standing next to them. What people think about you doesn't say a lot about you, your apperance and personality, but about the person who thinks it. As I mentioned earlier I am sure that there are some people who absolutly hate Picassos work but that doesn't mean he is was terribel artist. Even if you try to please everyone and are the nicest human being possible there will still be someone who won't like you for what seems like no reason at all. Trying to please everyone is hopeless so stop trying and listen to what you actually want.

  5. Forgive yourself

We all regret some things. Nobody is perfect which is why mistakes happen to each  and every one of us in our lifetime. The things is we can't go back. It has already happend and you can't change the past so there is absolutely no point in whishing you could. It doesn't do anything expect for making you miserablein the present as well. To be ok with yourself you need to get over it. You are not the only one who fucked up. There are a bunch of people who did exactly the same mistake as you did and the people who you surround yourself with aren't perfect either, they might just not tell you everything. Don't let your past define your future. Forgive yourself and see your mistakes as a change for you to learn and grow. Make an effort to better yourself now so things like so you won't make the same mistake twice. You can always improve yourself no matter how old you are. Start now and become the person you always anted to be.

6. Surround yourself with good people

It's often forgotten how important it is to spend quality time with people who will actually make you feel good about yourself. If you feel like some of your friends, your partner or even family members constantly put you down, try to adress the problem or get rid of them. It doesn't mean that they are bad people in general, they might just not be right for you. I know how hard it can be to ditch some of your friends but friendship should be about lifting each other up and beliving in the other person. To fully accept yourself you need to have people in your life who do the same thing as well.

7. Care for yourself

Controlling your thoughts is a thing. If you want to love yourself for who you are it's essential that you change the way you talk to yourself. Treat yourself like a dear friend of yours. You have to spend every minute a day with yourself so what's the point in constantly putting yourself down? Be gentle and kind. Find things you like about yourself, your personality and appereance. Let yourself be proud when you have done something that was difficult. Treat yourself once in a while and buy a new book or clothes you feel confident in. Please don't just focus on the bad things but see the good. I am not telling you that you should tell yourself that you are perfect everyday. Develop a realistic view of yourself, get to know your strenghts and weaknesses. You love your friends even they have have flaws. Studies have shown that people like each other more when they can relate to each others imperfections. Being real and human makes you seem honest and nice so stop being ashamed.

When I tell people that porridge is my go-to breakfast, those who aren't into healthy eating seem to be quite shocked. I guess that most of them imagine plain oats cooked with tasteless water, but that's not the case! There are so many tasty and creative ways to prepare your porridge in the morning. You can use a bunch of different spices, plant-milks and  sweeteners. It's possible to replace the oats with millet, buckwheat, quinoa or amaranth. The most fun part though is decorating your bowl with a bunch of different toppings like fresh or dried fruit, nut butters, apple sauce, yoghurt and nuts and seeds. There are so many possible variations that it never gets boring. Since I'm a big chocolate lover, this one is one of my favourites. It takes less than 10 minutes and keeps me full until lunch time, while satisfying my cravings. The best thing about it is that it is healthy too, so it's a win - win.

What you'll need:

-half a cup of oats
- one cup of your favourite plant-milk (I use oat milk) and half a cup of water
- a teaspoon of raw cacao powder
- some raisins and chia seeds
- a natural sweetener of your choic (maple syrup, date nectar or coconut sugar)
- raw cacao nibs or chopped dark vegan chocolate
- berries  for topping your porridge (bananas taste amazing with this too)

What you have to do:

1. Place your oats, raisins, chia seeds andthe liquids in a saucepann
2. Bring to boil and let it simmer for around 5 minutes, make sure that the porridge doesn't stick to the bottom of your saucepan
3. Mix in the cacao powder
4. Pour the porridge into a bowl and top with the fruit, the raw cacao nibs and the chosen sweetener

Enjoy!

Granola is just my favourite quick breakfast. Whenever I'm in a rush I just grab a bowl, throw in some granola and fresh fruit and I  pour in some plant-milk. Voilá!
Even though I love cooking I have to admit that I am not the best baker. My family and I stopped counting the number of cookies and cakes that turned black in the oven, so you can trust me when I say: Homemade granola is one of the easiest things I have ever baked.

You will need:

- 2 cups of oats
- 1/2 cups of nuts & seeds
- 1/2 banana
- 2 table spoons of tahini
- 4 dates
- 2 big teaspoons of cinnamon
- a pinch of salt
- optional: one - two teaspoons of maple sirup if you prefer it sweeter

What you have to do:

1. Preheat the oven to 200°C
2.Mix the oats, nuts and seeds together
3. Blend the dates, the tahini, the salt and the banana together in a food processor
4. Pour the mixture over the oats, make sure that all the oats, nuts and seeds are equally coated
5. Place everyting on a baking tray and bake until golden brown
6. If the granola turned into the desired colour, take it out of the oven and let it cool down.
7. Store in a dry and cool place. Enjoy!

Acai-bowls are everywhere on the internet these days, so of course I decided to try them out. It's an incredibly easy, tasty and quick recipe. By the way, if you don't want to spend a lot of money on acai-powder: Leaving it out will change the colour and taste a little bit, but it's still really tasty and refreshing on hot summer days.

You will need:

- 3 big hands of frozen berries
- 1/2 banana
- a big teaspoon of acai powder
- a tiny splash of plant-milk or water
- toppings of choice: granola, fruits, shredded coconut, cacao nibs...
(- natural sweetener if you want it a even sweeter)

What you have to do:

1. Place all the ingridients in a blender and blend until you get a smooth consitensty
2. Put the ice cream in a bowl and top it with whatever you want.
3. Enjoy! <3

A lot of people who want to try out a vegan diet struggle with deciding what to buy. Especially when you are transitioning to  a plant-based diet it seems like everything you used to eat isn't vegan. This is why I figured I would show you the things that I usually buy when going grocery shopping. Of course I don't always have all these things at home, but I try to.

1. Plant-milk: This is just a basic. You can choose between so many different kinds of plant-milk: Rice milk and oat milk, which are both quiet sweet; almond milk and other kinds of nut milk; coconut milk and of course the classic soy milk. All of them taste differently, so feel free to switch them up whenever you like so it doesn't get boring! You can use them for baking, your cereal and of course drinks like coffee and hot chocolate.

Carbs:

2. Oats: I can't imagine a life without oats anmore. I used to hate them, but they are acutually so tasty and versitile! I use them for porridge, cookies, smoothies, granola, bred, pancakes... The possibilties are endless. The great thing about oats is that they are very filling and healthy, which explains why they are so poular for breakfast.

3. Pasta and Rice, Couscous: My favourite foods ever. No explanation needed.

4. Rye bread and wholewheat toast: Another basic food that everybody needs in their house. I love smashing up some avocado on the bread or eat it with nut butters and banana. Whenever I am in a rush or too lazy to cook myself a nice meal I usually go with some slices of bred.

5. Flour: A lot of people don't believe it, but yes: vegan baking is just as easy as regular baking! That's why I always have some flour at home, because who doesn't enjoy pancakes, crêpes and cake?

6. Wraps & Rice paper: I am such a huge fan of burritos! Furthermore, wraps are just as perfect for quick meals as bred is. You can put everything you have in your fridge ( I usually use my leftovers) inside. The same things goes for rice paper, it doesn't really matter what you put inside of the spring or summer rolls that you can prepare with those - just make sure you dip them in a nice sauce and it is going to taste amazing.

Veggies:

7. Garlic and Onions: I know a lot of people who hate garlic or onions, but that's definitly not the case for me. I'm obsessed with both of them and you will find them in almost everything I cook. I'm sorry for the people who have to spend time with me after one of my garlic flavoured meals, just not sorry enough to leave them out.

8. Spinach: Spinach is a great plant-based source of protein, so I try to add it to most of my meals. I really like the taste of those green leaves, but don't worry if you are not a big fan of it: If you add spinach to a smoothies or a sauce you won't even taste it!

9. Chickpeas: They are great for all my favourite foods: Hummus, Falafel and Indian currys. Life wouldn't be the same without them. Another good thing: They are packed with important protein too.

10. Beans: Black / Kidney beans are great for preparing veggie patties for extremly tasty vegan burgers. I cook a lot of mexican food, which is why you can always find them on my grocery shopping list. Can you imagine a burrito without beans?

11. Mushrooms, Eggplant,/Aubergine, Zuccini/Courgette: Because they are incredibly tasty and work great in all kinds of dishes.

12. Tomatos: For pasta sauce, wraps and curries or a fresh salad.

13. Sweet potato: If I could eat one single thing for the rest of my life it would be sweet potato. I remember cooking it for the first time for my parents  a few years ago. All of us were so amazed by the taste and since that time it has become a must-have in my fridge. Another great thing about sweet potatos is that they are extremly healthy! If you haven't tried them out yet, I suggest you do it. Immediatly.

Fruit:

14. Bananas:  Every vegan on the internet seems to be addicted to bananas. For a good reason! They are nice to replace eggs when baking. If you like breakfast smoothies you should definitly try out a banana chocolate milkshake, which is my absoluty favourite. Another vegan classic is Banana ice cream which is the easiest and quickest self-made ice cream ever.

15. Frozen berries:  I use them for acai bowls, berry ice cream and self-made chia jam.

16. Apples, watermelon & fresh berries

17. Avocado: I pick up an avocado everytime I go to the grocery store. No exceptions. It's my favourite topping for bred ever! Even in my vegetarian times I used to prefer it over cheese and butter. You can top your burritos with self-made Guacomole or put the avocado in salads.  An avocoado is also awesome for vegan pesto.

Nuts & Seeds

18. Nut butters: I love love love nut butters to top my porride and pancakes and eat them on bread. Almond butter is great to give some meals a creamy constistency and peanut butter creates amazing african dishes.  My favourite one though is Tahini because it makes great salad dressings. But seriously, I adore all of them, even though they are slightly more expensive.

19. Chia seeds: Another thing that every vegan blogger seems to be in love with. At first I did not understand the trend. That changed when I tried chia-pudding for the first time. It's amazing and so easy! They are also great for creating "chia-eggs" when baking vegan.

20. Cashews: Before I went vegan I was obsessed with cheese. It was the only thing I was worried abot missing when I made the decision to stay away from animal products for good. Cashew nuts are great for creating vegan cheese (sauce) which is also way healthier than the regular one!

Sweet stuff

21. Dates: Dates are sweet as sugar, but a natural and therefore healthier option. I usually use them for milk shakes, baking & topping my porridge. They are a great snack too if you find yourself craving something sweet.

22. Raisins: Have you ever tried hot raisins? They taste around 256 times better when you heat them, which is why I always cook them with my oats in the morning. The dried grapes bring every couscous salad or granola to the next level.

23. Dark chocolate: I admit it: I am a chocaholic. Seroiusly, I need to eat something chocolate flavoured everyday to stay sane and happy. You might call it a bad habit, but I won't give it up. Ever.

24. Natural sweetener: I tend to stick to maple syrup or date nectar. Both of them are equally as tasty, so I usually buy the cheapest one or the one they have in store( not kidding). They are a lot of other options out there like coconut sugar or avage nectar if you prefer those.

Spices

25. Curry and red, green & yellow curry paste: Because curry is my favourite thing to eat.

26. Cinnamon: Telling you that I love cinamonn would be an understatement. I am the kind of person who puts cinamonn in their coffee at Starbucks - every time. In my kitchen I use it for almost everthing: Porridge, pancakes, arabian dishes, curries, baking... You can never go wrong with cinnamon!

27. Vanilla extract & raw cacao powder: For all kind of breakfast & sweet foods.

28. Fresh Parsely, Coriander and Basil: Fresh herbs make every dish way better. I use a lot of them, but  the three that I mentioned are the ones I use on a daily-basis.

Etc:

29. Soy sauce & Chilli sauce: Because what would asian food be without them?

30. Coconut milk ( the one for cooking): For all kinds of curry, wether it is an indian or thai one. Coconut milk is what creates the creamy consistency.
